VW Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition touches down

VOLKSWAGEN’s limited-run Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition has hit Australian showrooms with a $54,990 before on-road costs asking price, increased equipment levels and bespoke styling to sit atop the brand’s high-riding wagon range.

Only 250 examples will be made available locally and each will be distinguished by exterior Wolfsburg badging, 19-inch Albertville alloy wheels, an all-LED lighting signature including headlights, tail-lights and daytime running lights, and the exclusive option of Crimson Red paint.

The new Wolfsburg Edition can also be ordered with white or metallic grey paint, sharing these colours with the regular Passat Alltrack.

Inside, buyers who opt to spend the additional $4200 over the standard high-riding wagon will be treated to a black headliner, aluminium dash highlights, piano black centre console, tinted rear windows and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, as well as Volkswagen’s all-digital Active Info Display instrument cluster.

Wolfsburg Edition buyers will also be able to adjust damping and steering settings electronically through the Adaptive Chassis Control to either Normal, Sport or Comfort settings.

These additions come on top of standard equipment found in the Passat Alltrack range including tri-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, 8.0-inch touchscreen entertainment and control system with sat-nav and smartphone mirroring capabilities, automatically dimming rearview mirror, heated front seats and blind-spot monitoring.

The only option available to the Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition is a $2000 panoramic sunroof, however, Volkswagen is offering the new model with driveaway pricing until the end of March.

Propelled by the same EA288 2.0-litre turbo-diesel as its standard Alltrack brethren, the Wolfsburg Edition is good for 140kW of power between 3500-4000rpm and makes maximum torque of 400Nm from 1750-3000rpm.

Power is fed to all four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission which ensures an average fuel consumption figure of 5.4 litres per 100km.

Volkswagen launched its new Passat Alltrack in February last year and sold 617 units to the end of 2016. For the first month of 2017, the German brand has found 57 homes for its high-riding wagon.
