BATTERED by the diesel emissions scandal, Volkswagen is firing back with product that makes it hard to resist.
VW launched the new Tiguan late last year and the increase in virtually all dimensions means it is now a mid-size contender and faces increasingly tough competition from the likes of the Mazda CX-5, Nissan X-Trail, Hyundai Tucson and Ford Escape.
Those medium SUV buyers who push through the fog of the emissions scandal will find themselves considering a Tiguan, potentially the 140TDI turbo-diesel tested here.
It is now one of the segment leaders for space, not to mention a capable and composed chassis with some nice technology, some of which is even standard.
