C30 priced at Melbourne

VOLVO is clearly on a winner with the recent arrival of the S80 turbo-diesel and AWD V8 and now now Volvo has announced pricing for the cute-as-a-button C30 hatch.

As revealed at Friday's Melbourne motor show opening, Volvo’s all-new front-drive hatch will be available in S, LE, T5 and D5 models, starting at $34,450 for the six-speed manual S.

A five-speed auto adds $1500. The LE and T5 will be on show. In the S and more luxurious LE models, the C30 is powered by a normally aspirated five-cylinder petrol engine that develops 125kW/230Nm.

The LE costs $38,450, while the hot turbo-charged T5 and turbo-diesel D5 cost $42,450.

The T5 turbo develops 162kW/320Nm while the turbo-diesel D5 manages 132kW/350Nm.

Initially Volvo will kick off the range with the LE and T5, with the turbo-diesel C30 and C30 S arriving in the second half of the year.

Volvo is pitching the C30 at Mini, BMW 1 Series, A3, Mercedes-Benz B-class and Alfa Romeo 147.

Apart from the C30, the Swedish brand is also showing off the XC90 V8 Sport and new 3.2-litre six-cylinder XC90, as well as the S80 3.2 AWD.

The 232kW/440Nm 4.4-litre V8 XC90 Sport is a new entrant, costing $89,550 and featuring 19-inch alloys, sports suspension, wheel-arch extensions, self-levelling suspension, sports seats, white dials and special trim.
