VICTORIAN aluminium castings supplier Mett Pty Ltd has again featured in General Motors’ prestigious annual Supplier of the Year awards.
Mett was the sole Australian recipient from a group of 76 companies representing 16 countries honoured as Suppliers of the Year at a special awards ceremony at GM headquarters in Detroit last week.
This is the sixth time Mett has won the award since the program started in 1992.
One supplier, German intake manifold supplier Mann+Hummel has won a gong at the awards every year the event has been held.
“The Supplier of the Year award is always special but those suppliers recognised this year have risen above and beyond the call during one of the most challenging years in GM history,” said GM vice-president global purchasing and supply chain, Bob Socia.
“This is truly a world-class list of suppliers.”

The award recognises the contributions of GM’s suppliers as part of the company’s global product and performance achievements.
The winners are selected by a global team of executives representing purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics divisions.
The team’s decisions are based on performance of the supplier in the areas of quality, service, technology and price.
Mett was established in 1983 and maintains a state-of-the-art high-pressure aluminium diecasting facility at Noble Park in Melbourne’s outer-east.
The facility provides for precision and high-speed CNC (computer numerical control) machining, product assembly and testing.
