HONDA Australia will bolster its small car line-up with another Civic special edition, this time lobbing the VTi-S Luxe edition sedan for $26,490 before on-roads that is $2000 above the grade on which it is based.
Building on the VTi-S variant – which already includes keyless entry, push-button start, front and rear parking sensors, 16-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, front foglights and LaneWatch blind-spot monitor – the Luxe version adds leather-appointed seat trim, heated front pews, power-adjustable driver’s chair and Piano Black front grille.
Metallic or pearlescent paint is also included in the asking price with four on offer – White Orchid pearlescent, or the metallic Lunar Silver, Modern Steel and Cosmic Blue.
Inside, the VTi-S Luxe will retain the same 7.0-inch Advanced Display touchscreen infotainment system that includes Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity and two USB ports.
Performance is still delivered from a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, which punches out 104kW/174Nm to the front axle via a continuously-variable transmission.
Fuel economy is expected to remain unchanged at 6.4 litres per 100km.
With only 180 VTi-S Luxe vehicles available, Honda Australia director Stephen Collins said the new special-edition Civic is in response to consumer feedback.
“The current generation is already feature packed, but this new Civic VTi-S Luxe edition delivers even more equipment that we know customers value highly, like the leather-appointed seat trim,” he said.
Last year saw Honda’s Civic jump 108.8 per cent in sales to 14,672 thanks to the launch of the hatchback body style in May and the flagship Type R hot hatch in October.
The upward trajectory has continued so far in 2018, with the Civic recording 4166 new registrations – a 67.3 per cent year-on-year increase – for the first three months of the year, which trails just the Toyota Corolla (9264), Mazda3 (8916), Hyundai i30 (6751), Volkswagen Golf (4885) and Kia Cerato (4582).
The Civic VTi-S Luxe follows the Red Edition that lobbed in October, the Orange Pack from early 2017 and the Black Pack from May 2016.
