MG MOTOR has sharpened the drive-away price of its ageing ZS EV to just $34,990 drive-away in Excite trim grade.
The move means the ZS EV is again Australia’s cheapest electric vehicle, MG’s all-electric SUV competing with rivals from BYD and GWM in appealing to budget-conscious EV buyers.
The drive-away deal is available nationwide and is available for the period of one month, expiring on August 31. It represents a reduction of $5000 on last month’s list price with higher trim grade Essence and Long Ranger variants attracting a $1000 discount (see below).
“MG has been leading the charge with attainable electric vehicles since the launch of the local award-winning ZS EV and MG4, with reduced nationwide drive-away pricing on some of our range Australia wide, we maintain our leadership position in this space,” said MG Motor Australia chief executive officer Peter Ciao.
“MG is putting customers first by ensuring all road users can access a wide range of affordable zero emission vehicles thanks to a special National Driveaway Price Campaign on our ZS EV Excite at a very affordable $34,990 drive-away during the month of August.”
Despite its age, MG’s Small SUV under $45K entrant – which is available in electrified and petrol-powered formats – continues to top the segment, its first-half 2024 sales tallying an impressive 11,809 units, or 2861 vehicles more than second-place Hyundai Kona (8948 units).
The remainder of the segment’s top 10 is comprised by the GWM Haval Jolion (7131), Mazda CX-30 (6174), Mitsubishi ASX (6080), Subaru Crosstrek (6008), Toyota Corolla Cross (5145), Kia Seltos (4537), Volkswagen T-Cross (4096), and Nissan Qashqai (3924).
