Chery Tiggo 4 Pro headed Down Under

BY MATT BROGAN | 16th Aug 2024

CHERY will add the Tiggo 4 Pro small-segment SUV to its Australian line-up from October with a sub-$24,000 drive-away price, taking the fight to the likes of the GWM Haval Jolion (from $26,990 d/a) and MG ZS (from $22,990 d/a).

The Chinese importer claims the Tiggo 4 Pro will become Australia's best-value turbo-powered compact SUV, joining the Omoda 5 compact crossover, Tiggo 7 Pro medium SUV and Tiggo 8 Pro Max large SUV in Chery’s local portfolio.

“We are delighted to introduce the Tiggo 4 Pro to the Australian market,” said Chery Australia chief executive officer Lewis Lu.

“This feature-packed compact SUV will complement the Chery range in Australia and is set to deliver an innovative and affordable motoring experience.”

While final specification and pricing is yet to be announced, Chery Australia has confirmed the Tiggo 4 Pro will be offered in Urban (entry) and Ultimate (high) grades, each offering what it says is a “modern and stylish design that seamlessly blends aesthetics with functionality”.

The Chery Tiggo 4 Pro is characterised by stylish lines, a bold grille, and “attention-grabbing” LED headlights.

Its interior is said to provide an “enhanced driving environment” bolstered by equipment highlights including dual 10.25-inch instrumentation and infotainment screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, seven airbags, heated front seats, and “an impressive array of driver assistance features”.

Power for the model comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with outputs of 108kW and 210Nm, matching that of the Omoda 5.

Chery says the engine is paired with a “responsive transmission”, which based on the engine spec suggests it will share the Omoda 5’s continuously variable automatic, “ensuring a pleasurable driving experience on Australian roads”.

Like other Chery passenger models, the Tiggo 4 Pro will be backed by a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with included capped price servicing program and roadside assistance bundle.

The model will be available to order from September 16, with first deliveries expected from October.
