Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 City Edition announced

MERCEDES-BENZ has announced details of its GLA 200 City Edition.

 

Priced from $66,900 drive-away (until the end of September), the variant features Progressive Line styling – including chrome trim highlights and a sporty front fascia, chrome rear bumper moulding and tailpipe surrounds and aluminium roof rails – as standard.

 

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 City Edition further offers a higher ride height than the derivative variant and model-specific 18-inch five-twin-spoke light alloy wheels.

 

Mercedes-Benz says the exterior styling enhancements further accentuate the appeal and highly practical elements that already make the GLA-Class SUV a “firm favourite with urban-based individuals”.

 

The five-seat variant further includes equipment highlights such as a glass panoramic sunroof, electrically adjusted and heated front seats with memory, keyless entry and ignition, powered tailgate, and Mercedes-Benz’s Parking Package with 360-degree camera system.

 

These features join widescreen format digital instrumentation and infotainment displays, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless device charging, satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control, and 64-colour LED ambient cabin lighting.

 

Importantly, the GLA 200 City Edition continues to offer the comprehensive array of standard safety equipment found in the derivative variant (which is backed by a five-star ANCAP safety rating).

 

Included is a total of nine airbags, tyre pressure monitoring, SOS call system, adaptive cruise control, active lane keeping assist, traffic sign assist, electro-chromatic mirrors, blind spot assist with exit warning, active parking assist with self-parking capability, and high-performance LED headlights with adaptive high beam assist.

 

Replicating the GLA 200 SUV on which it is based, the City Edition is powered by a 120kW and 270Nm turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels. Combined cycle fuel consumption is listed at 6.2 litres per 100km.

 

Like all Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles, the GLA 200 City Edition is backed by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.

 

The Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 City Edition is available from now until September 30 with a national drive-away price of $66,900. After this time, the model will be available from $63,900 plus on-road costs.
