Night Edition joins Mercedes-Benz GLE range

MERCEDES-BENZ has announced details of a limited-run Night Edition version of its GLE 300 d 4Matic SUV.

Priced from $139,900 plus on-road costs, the model is some $7000 cheaper than the variant on which it is based, but adds a raft of features in what equates to exceptional value for Large SUV segment buyers.

On the list are black AMG 22-inch alloy wheels in a five-twin-spoke design and external black treatment applied across the wing mirror scalps, shoulder and window trim.

The GLE 300 d 4Matic Night Edition rides on Airmatic suspension and includes Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX infotainment system, Burmester surround sound audio system, DAB+ digital radio reception, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, wireless device charging pad, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory presets, head-up display and multiple USB-C ports.

Additionally, the limited-edition variant includes 64-colour LED ambient cabin lighting, dual-zone climate control, heat-insulating tinted rear glass, black Artico upholstery, and anthracite open-pore oak wood trim elements.

The Night Edition package is further complemented by aluminium-look side steps, auto-dimming and electrically folding wing mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, a powered tailgate, multibeam LED headlights with adaptive high beam, 360-degree camera technology and active parking assist.

Key safety technologies include adaptive cruise control, AEB, blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, exit warning, traffic sign recognition and more.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 300 d 4Matic Night Edition is powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine found in the derivative model. The unit outputs 198kW of power and 550Nm of torque via a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive for a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.9 seconds. Fuel economy is listed at 6.6 litres per 100km on the ADR Combined cycle.
