Mitsubishi gets pro-ACTiV with Outlander

TWO months out from launching a facelifted version of its Outlander compact SUV, Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has released a limited-edition version dubbed the ACTiV.

Priced from $33,990 drive-away and based on the LS 2.4-litre manual petrol, the ACTiV includes an alloy nudge bar, front foglamps, tinted windows, roof rail crossbars, unique decals and a chrome grille surround.

The cabin is wired up for Bluetooth mobile phones, while a Rockford Fosgate premium stereo is also onboard.

Standard Outlander features include electronic stability control, dual front airbags and ABS brakes with EBD, but side and curtain airbags, which are options on the regular LS, are not included on the ACTiV special.

Nonetheless, the limited-edition Outlander represents a significant saving over the regular LS, which starts at $32,990, plus statutory and dealer delivery costs. A continuously variable transmission costs an extra $2500, while a limited number of ACTiV seven-seat models are also available for the usual $4450 increment.

MMAL brand and marketing vice-president Paul Unerkov said the additional equipment took the ACTiV to a “whole new level of luxury and drivability”.

Mitsubishi also offered an ACTiV-branded special edition with similar additional equipment in December 2005.
