AUSTRALIAN four-wheel drive equipment and accessories manufacturer TJM has released a range of equipment for the new Volkswagen Amarok this week, all of which is now available to order via the firm’s public website.
Readying the range in time for the Melbourne 4x4 Outdoors Show (August 18 – 20), the TJM crew will offer front and rear protection, roof racks, suspension lift kits, rock rails and more, much of it uniquely designed for the Amarok.
“The side steps were about the only item we could transfer from our development of the (Ford) Ranger. The Amarok differs significantly in width and in terms of ADAS sensor placement at the rear,” explained Aeroklas Asia Pacific Group production manager for vehicle systems Darren Piper.
“Every accessory, whether it’s a TJM product or one that has been developed with our trusted partner brands, is engineered to perform in Australia’s harsh conditions and to function with the safety systems of the Amarok.
“We were also mindful to ensure the accessories work with the Amarok’s design and made a point of differentiating the front and rear bars to complement the vehicle and give it some differentiation over the Ranger.”
Mr Piper told GoAuto that even more Volkswagen Amarok accessories are in the pipeline, with TJM’s unique modular bullbar design reducing engineering time and complexity in bringing new products to market.
The Genuine TJM Outback bullbar fitted to the show-ready Amarok was developed locally and includes 63mm outer pipe work for added strength and damage deflection, TJM’s new full wrap rolled cato straps, an integrated steel winch mount (rated to 4310kg), integrated recovery points (rated to 8000kg), and reinforced high-lift T-slot jack points.
Dual aerial mounts are also standard, as are mounting points for driving lights or LED light bars. The show car was also loaded with a Yamika LockNLoad platform-style roof rack, Uniden UHF, XGS suspension, TJM-branded (Narva-sourced) LED lighting, MaxTrax recovery boards and Black Bear 21-inch alloys with A/T rubber.
TJM’s bullbar design is ADR compliant and ADAS compatible with provision for OEM parking sensors and side sensors as standard. The rear bar also incorporates provision for blind spot monitoring sensors and an integrated 3500kg tow bar.
Volkswagen currently does not offer a dealer-fit bullbar for its Amarok range. ARB is the only other off-road accessories provider to currently offer a bullbar for the Amarok.
“We believe we have designed a suite of accessories that look fantastic and are in keeping with the aesthetics of the Volkswagen’s outstanding vehicle design,” said Mr Piper.
“This accessory range will really help Volkswagen customers go that one step further, take the lead and transform their vehicle into a machine that will enable them to go anywhere in the great Aussie outdoors.”
