Super TestCar reviews - Toyota - Celica - SX 3-dr hatchToyota modelsResearch Toyota Used Rivals11 Jul 2003 MAZDA MX6 2D COUPE (1994-1997) TO most people the swoopy MX6 is the best looking of this group. It is also well equipped with air-conditioning and an airbag included. The smooth 2.5-litre V6 is the most powerful of this group with 121kW, which gives the MX6 the performance edge. HYUNDAI COUPE SFX 2D COUPE (1996-1999) THE SFX Coupe does not match the Celica for refinement but it is hard to beat as a value for money buy. The equipment list has just about everything except air-conditioning and the 2.0-litre, twin cam engine has enough power (102kW) to match the Celica's performance. HONDA PRELUDE 2D COUPE (1987-1996) HONDA's Prelude is close to the Celica in terms of space and practicality but is better equipped and an airbag and anti-lock brakes are standard on later models. There is 118kW from the 2.3- litre engine so performance is similar to the Calibra. The dashboard design lets the interior down. HOLDEN CALIBRA 2D COUPE (1995-1998) THE Calibra looks good and is the only car in this group which is a comfortable long distance four-seater. The lively 2.0-litre engine almost matches the MX6 for performance and is better equipped than the Celica. Minus points are an old-fashioned dash with indicator control on the left and quality which does not match the Japanese.
