Future models - HSV - E Series 2 - rangeHSV confirms E Series 2Facelifted HSV range announced ahead of its release later this year3 Jul 2009 HOLDEN Special Vehicles has taken the unusual step of confirming that a facelifted version of its E Series range will be released before the Bathurst 1000, to be held October 8-11. The move verifies recent press reports that the HSV dealer network has been advised of the upgrades, which are claimed to include a major reduction in fuel consumption and “a number of Australian auto technology production firsts”. It also confirms the release of Holden’s VE Commodore Series 2 range, upon which the revised HSV E Series 2 line-up will be based, by September. HSV says the “multi-million dollar” upgrade will comprise major visual differentiation, a number of driver enhancements and new features, including at least firsts for Australian production cars. Recent speculation by Fairfax media estimates fuel consumption reductions of five per cent or more, as well as a maximum power increase of up to 2.5 per cent. Currently, HSV’s 6.2-litre V8 produces peak figures of 317kW and 550Nm of torque and returns average fuel economy of at least 14.4L/100km. “We know our customers want the latest technologies, as well as distinctive luxury and performance features in their HSV,” said HSV managing director Phil Harding today. “Our customers will be delighted with the delivery of improved economy, more power, some truly exciting driver enhancements and distinctive design themes. “This represents a massive change for the successful E Series range and is the culmination of three years of research and development.” HSV said it would start a staged preview campaign aimed at generating customer interest and demand in the new model, with dealers and loyal customers to be supplied details of the new models ahead of the media and general public. E Series 2 information has already been supplied to HSV dealers, which the company says is “actively speaking with past, present and future customers about the exciting new models”. HSV enthusiasts have been advised to check www.hsv.com.au for further information and footage on E Series 2 prior to its launch.
