Hummer on track

GENERAL MOTORS is on track to begin producing Hummer H3 models in South Africa later this year, with GM product czar Bob Lutz revealing to Reuters last week that the company’s Port Elizabeth plant would be the major export base for the vehicle – including right-hand drive and diesel.

Production is scheduled to commence in the final quarter, with RHD models available from the outset. Holden is expected to begin importing the H3 next year.
