KTM reveals X-Bow GT – replete with windscreen

No wind in the hair: KTM aims to improve cockpit comfort with the X-Bow GT.

Ultra-light KTM X-Bow track car gets wrap-around windscreen

1 Mar 2013

A windscreen and doors are hardly items associated with a list of luxury extras but in the case of the ultra-minimalist KTM X-Bow, they certainly are.

First pictures of the X-Bow GT released today show the bare-bones track car wearing an added windscreen and side windows.

The fitment of the wrap-around screen will improve occupant comfort and may also benefit high-speed aerodynamics (perhaps why the name GT was selected).

While the new panels offer increased protection from the elements the GT is not completely weather proof with the notable absence of a roof.

Purists and racers will no-doubt prefer to stick to the screen-less version and opt for a crash helmet but the latest additions to the X-Bow may be a step closer to an Australian street-legal version.

But until further word from KTM, speculation will have to remain.

KTM have yet to release further information regarding any other performance enhancements to compensate for the extra weight of the screen and wiper assembly or if it will share any features of the effervescent X-Bow R.

The regular X-Bow manages a zero to 100 km/h time of just 3.9 seconds, a top speed of 217 km/h and produces 177kW from its Audi-sourced 2.0-litre TFSI engine.

More details are expected to follow with the appearance of the X-Bow GT in Geneva next week.
