LAMBORGHINI has announced production of 500 convertible versions of the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce, taking the total of the special edition Italian supercar to 1100 units including the coupe.

Announced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom on the weekend, the Audi AG-owned marque also confirmed that every one of the 600 closed-roof iterations have already been accounted for, and added that the same is expected of the roadster.

First shown at this year’s Geneva motor show, the Superveloce-badged Aventador LP 750-4 is powered by a modified version of the company’s 6.5-litre V12. Power rises from 515kW to 552kW at a stratospheric 8400rpm, although torque remains the same at 690Nm (at 5500rpm).

Aided by a 50kg weight drop (to 1525kg dry), the superfast supercar from Sant'Agata, Italy can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 2.8 seconds (0.1s quicker than the garden variety version), on its way to a top speed somewhere north of 325km/h.

Zero to 200km/h is dispensed of in just 8.6s, 0-300km/h takes 24s, while the Lambo needs only 30 metres of road to brake from 100km/h to standstill.

The NEDC combined fuel consumption average is 16 litres per 100 kilometres, with a carbon dioxide emissions rating of 370 grams/km.

Lamborghini president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann told the Goodwood attendees that that Superveloce is the brand’s ultimate expression.

"The Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce is the most pure, sports-oriented and emotional incarnation of a Lamborghini,” he said.
