Land Rover heavyweights unveil vital new compact SUV model, confirm 2011 launch14 Oct 2010 By PHILIP LORD LAND ROVER Australia unveiled its impressive new Range Rover Evoque at a pre-Sydney motor show today and confirmed that it will be available from launch next October in both three-door and five-door bodystyles, each in three model grades. Clearly showing the importance of the Australian market to Land Rover’s sales aspirations with its all-new compact SUV, a phalanx of senior executives were in Sydney to present the Evoque, including managing director Phil Popham, design director Gerry McGovern and director of global marketing Colin Green. Mr Popham unveiled the new Evoque in three-door – or, as Land Rover likes to call it, ‘cross-coupe’ – form, just two weeks after it made its world motor show debut in Paris. ![]() As GoAuto has reported, the five-door version – which Land Rover has intimated will be the entry-level model to the Evoque range – was presented in Paris as a photograph and its production was confirmed by Mr Popham. It is expected to make its world motor show debut at the Los Angeles motor show next month. At launch, the Evoque range will include both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions, with petrol and diesel engines, including the same Ford-sourced 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine that will power the Australian-built Ford Falcon from next year. The Evoque will also receive a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, to be available in 110kW and 140kW tunes, with idle-stop technology on variants fitted with a six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic will also be offered across the range. The other main attraction on the Sydney stand will be the Range Rover Autobiography Black, a special-edition model that is limited globally to 600 units, of which Australia has received 14. Based on the 5.0 Supercharged model, the Autobiography Black is only available in black, of course, and features new 20-inch alloy wheels, a revised grille and side vents, and a variety of trim changes, including contrasting piping for the two unique interior colour schemes. The Range Rover Vogue Autobiography Black has a recommended retail price of $239,700 plus on-road costs, which is $10,200 more than the 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography. ![]() Read more1st of October 2010 ![]() Paris show: Five-door Evoque is seen, not touchedRange Rover issues first official pic of Evoque 5-door in Paris ahead of LA debutAll future models![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Range Rover Evoque pricing
