Future models - Mini - Convertible - HighgateAnother limited edition MiniCooper Cabrio Highgate the latest London-themed Mini special edition to emerge6 Feb 2012 MINI has announced yet another special edition model, and – like the Baker Street and Bayswater hatchbacks revealed last month – the German-owned British brand has named it after a fashionable part of London. Available exclusively in Cooper Cabrio bodystyle, the Mini Highgate (a swanky suburb in London’s North) gets a suite of unique cosmetic touches both inside and out. However, while the Baker Street and Bayswater are both due to hit local showrooms in limited numbers from May, the Highgate is not a certainty to join them Down Under. Mini Australia product communications manager Scott Croaker told GoAuto today the car is “under consideration” for the local market and to expect a decision in the coming weeks. Exclusive Highgate touches include a new dark brown – or ‘Iced Chocolate’ as Mini dub it – body paint with matching ‘Silvertouched Truffle’ brown fabric roof and matching bonnet stripes with blue edging. Like the Bayswater and Baker Street – which also feature their own unique signature paint finishes – the Highgate can be had in Midnight Black or White Silver for those not enamoured with the brown duco. The exterior revisions are topped off by ‘Double Cross Turned’ 17-inch alloy wheels, the spokes of which are claimed to have been inspired by the Union Jack flag. Inside, the Highgate picks up brown leather seats with contrasting blue piping and stitching, brushed alloy dashboard detailing and special badges on the side indicator surrounds, door sills and seat tags. Also included as standard is the normally optional Chilli Pack, with adds extra equipment such as automatic air-conditioning, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, multi-function steering wheel and multi-coloured interior lights. The Highgate will be available in Europe in all Cooper Cabrio variants with the exception of the John Cooper Works performance flagship. The Australian Cabrio line-up currently comprises the 90kW/160Nm Cooper and 135kW/240Nm Cooper S, as well as the JCW Edition. Mini Australia will release its Roadster and Coupe twins toward the end of this month, with pricing for the hardtop starting from $42,990.
