Smart unveils a two-seater cabrio concept at Frankfurt - this time with hybrid urge15 Sep 2005 DAIMLERCHRYSLER’S micro-car brand Smart unveiled the Crosstown at Frankfurt this week, a showcar closely related to the ForTwo cabrio but this time wrapped in a 4WD look and featuring a hybrid powertrain. Designed to demonstrate the Smart ForTwo’s potential flexibility, the 2680mm Crosstown is 180mm longer – as well as slightly taller and wider – than the super-compact ForTwo. Like the ForTwo Cabrio, Crosstown has a convertible roof. This time, however, its removal allows the steeply raked windscreen to be removed and stowed under the front lid. ![]() Otherwise, even Smart admits Crosstown is very much a city-going version of theForTwo, err, city car. |
