STATUS: China’s biggest new-car expoThe Beijing Motor Show was first held in China in 1990 and alternates with the Auto Shanghai as China’s premier new-vehicle motor show.

The event is growing in global importance each year as China’s motor industry expands.

China is the world’s fastest-growing car market and has overtaken sales the levels of the former world sales leader, the United States.

The market is now so important that no serious global car maker can afford to stay away.

The last show in 2010 included 1000 cars on display from 16 countries with and 89 launches of new models – many of them global debuts.

The displays are housed in seven massive exhibition halls at the Chinese International Exhibition Centre near the Beijing International Airport.
