A cluster of stars emerges in world's biggest car market

After the vast panoply of new models on display in Shanghai in 2011, the Beijing show has a lot to live up to this year.

The Biennial show will be the biggest expo of its kind in 2012 in the world's biggest automotive market, so expect an array of fresh metal from both local and international car-makers.

Fresh metal confirmed for public debut includes the Mercedes Concept Style Coupe, Citroen DS9 concept, Audi Q3 RS, Fiat Viaggio and BMW i8 Spyder.

UPDATE26/04/2012The Beijing show has not disappointed, with a huge collection of new metal including sexy concepts, quirky product from up-and-coming Chinese marques and fresh production models from well known global car-makers.

Models of critical importance for the Australian market on show for the first time include the revived Pulsar sedan, which Nissan hopes can hit the top of the local sales charts.

Lamborghini left jaws on the floor with its Urus luxury off-roader - named in honour of an extinct prehistoric ancestor to the cow.
