13/10/14TUNG NGUYENThis year's Paris motor show featured few surprises, but still managed to impress with the sheer amount of hot metal on display.
The biggest surprise was undoubtedly the reveal of Volkswagen's XL Sport, a polarising lightweight sports car powered by a Ducati motorcycle engine.
Although everything else seen at the Mondial de l'Automobile was either teased or leaked beforehand, Audi still impressed with its TT Sportback concept, a stretched TT with four-door practicality and coupe like styling.
Lamborghini managed to steal some thunder with its Asterion electric hybrid vehicle, a first for the Italian supercar-maker.
In the hot hatch department, Honda brought its upcoming turbocharged Civic Type R, while Nissan pulled the wraps off its Nismo-tuned Pulsar.
Not one to be upstaged at their own show, French manufacturers Citroen, Peugeot and Renault pulled out all the stops. Citroen wowed audiences with its gorgeous Divine DS concept, Peugeot took aim at the hot hatch market with its 308 GT and Renault showed off its futuristic Eolab petrol-electric hybrid.
