The historic Paris motor show is back for another year

The Paris motor show has wrapped up for another year, with the 2016 event showcasing a number of exciting new concepts and production models.

Hyundai stole the show with its wild RN30 hot hatch concept, a 280kW behemoth prototype that previews the i30 N, Hyundai’s first genuinely performance-honed model. The South Korean car-maker also revealed the next-generation iteration of its best-selling i30 hatch.

Honda uncovered the hot Type R version of its tenth-gen Civic hatch – a model that will come to Australia after missing out on the previous iteration of the Type R.

And electric and hybrid technology was all the rage at Paris, with green models such as the Volkswagen ID, Citroen Cxperience, Mercedes-Benz Generation EQ and Mitsubishi Ground Tourer all breaking cover for the show.

27/9/2016The 2016 Paris show is now merely days away, and it promises to be a bumper show with a number of brands showing off upcoming models and exciting concepts.

Audi will reveal its much-anticipated second-generation Q5 SUV, replacing a model that has existed in some form since 2009. It is likely to go on sale from next year using updated versions of its current powertrains.

The next-generation BMW 5 Series will be revealed following a number of teaser videos and photos, and the German marque has promised that the new mid-size premium sedan will be chock-full of new technological features.

And Hyundai will show off the next-generation iteration of its best-selling i30 small hatch, as well as a concept that could preview the i30 N, the first model in Hyundai’s N performance stable and a car that could challenge the best hot hatches on the market.

Only a month to go now until the 2016 Mondial de l’Automobile, and there are already a number of eye-catching future models and concepts ready to steal the spotlight in Paris.

The 708kW/900Nm hybrid LaFerrari hypercar gets its roof chopped off ahead of its reveal at Paris, with the topless version to be offered with either a removable carbon-fibre hard-top or soft-top to go with a sub-three second 0-100km/h time.

Hometown marque Citroen will fully reveal its concept that could be the possible replacement for the C5 or C6 sedan. Called the Cxperience concept, it uses a hybrid petrol-electric powertrain and is designed like a four-door liftback coupe.

And the next generation of Hyundai’s best-selling model, the i30, will be revealed at Paris. The Korean brand has revealed a set of teaser images for the new small hatch, and the full reveal will occur closer to the start of the show.

First held all the way back in 1898, the Paris motor show is back for 2016.

Held biennially, the Mondial de l'Automobile rivals only Frankfurt for the title of largest auto show in the world.

The size and reputation of the show is sure to attract a number of exciting previews and reveals from car-makers all across the world.
