2011 Seoul International Motor ShowSouth Korean manufacturers bare their wares at hometown show1 Apr 2011 By MIKE COSTELLO in SEOUL THE 2011 Seoul show saw domestic giants Hyundai and Kia display the hydrogen-powered Blue2 show car and the Naimo crossover concept respectively. The Blue2 outlined a design theme Hyundai dubbed ‘intersected flow’ and made quite a change from the angular 'fluidic sculpture' design language seen on recent production models. Little technical data emerged about the propulsion system, however the concept did indicate the company's willingness to continue to develop hydrogen fuel cell technologies. The Kia Naimo, meanwhile, seemingly continued the design themes pioneered by the Kia Pop concept from the 2010 Paris show. The funky and boxy concept (see above) employed an 80kW electric motor with a maximum power and torque outputs of 80kW 280Nm respectively – good for a 150km/h top speed according to Kia. Seoul also saw Chevrolet stage the global debut of a futuristic hybrid-powered sportscar called the Mi-ray. Meanwhile, Renault partner Samsung showed the SM7 large sedan and SsangYong displayed an all-electric version of the recently released Korando medium-SUV.
