Future models - Lexus - LF-LCAIMS: Lexus goes it alone with LF-LC conceptLF-LC hybrid sports car to be the only vehicle on the Lexus stand at this years show16 Oct 2012 LEXUS will downsize its stand at this year’s Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) by focusing solely on the LF-LC hybrid sportscar concept. The Japanese luxury brand says its stand will “centre exclusively” on the show-stopping LF-LC hybrid coupe which will be a “further development” of the concept that was first shown at the Detroit auto show earlier this year. The second iteration of the LF-LC that will appear at AIMS will feature all-wheel drive, unlike the original concept which was rear-drive only. Power has also been tweaked slightly from the original concept with the stunning coupe now producing over 370kW from its V8 petrol-electric drivetrain. Calling the reveal a “global first”, Lexus Australia will use the new LF-LC to showcase technological advancements, including the Japanese car-maker’s “use of advanced materials.” Lexus Australia chief executive Tony Cramb said that the LF-LC concept “will highlight Lexus’ design and engineering expertise, marrying design with function to deliver a glimpse into the future of supercars”. Its limited presence in Sydney means Lexus is unlikely to showcase any of its current models, including the recently released GS mid-size range and facelifted RX SUV. GoAuto has already reported that a local showing of the recently unveiled 2013 LS flagship looks set to take place at the Melbourne Cup Carnival in November. Having just one car on show means Australia will also miss out on seeing the sexy LF-CC concept revealed at Paris in September that previews the redesigned 2013 IS series. At the initial unveiling of the LF-LC in Detroit, Lexus confirmed that the despite its looks the model would not be in the same category as its LFA supercar sibling. Instead, Lexus sees it as a competitor to the Porsche 911 and, if it goes into production, would be looking at a sticker price between $US100,000 and $US130,000. There are few other technical details available for the Sydney-bound LF-LC, but Lexus is pushing its green credentials by claiming that the concept’s hybrid system will emit a Camry-hybrid rivaling 150g/km of CO2.
