New models - GWM - CannonRun-out deals on GWM Cannon UteFurther price cuts see GWM Cannon Ute priced at $6000 less than in Q3 20245 Jan 2025 By MATT BROGAN GWM has slashed a further $2000 from the price of its Cannon Ute ahead of the introduction of an all-new model in the new year.
In addition to the $2000 bonus for private buyers, GWM is offering even greater value for ABN holders with an additional $1500 saving until December 31, 2024 or while stocks last.
The discounts bring the drive-away price of the Cannon Ute Premium for private buyers to $34,490 – or $4500 less than in Q3 of 2024 – with more highly specified variants up to $6000 cheaper, available from less than $47,990 drive-away for private buyers and ABN holders (see pricing below).
This week’s announcement follows a complimentary service offer made across most GWM models, and which saved Cannon Ute buyers $980.
It joins earlier news that all variants bar the flagship XSR are now offered with an increase braked towing capacity to 3200kg (+200kg). This figure is set to rise to a segment-levelling 3500kg when the new Cannon Ute arrives next year.
All GWM Cannon Ute variants are currently powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine developing 120kW and 400Nm. Drive is distributed to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
GoAuto understands the newly styled incoming model will utilise a more powerful 2.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine boasting 135kW and 480Nm when it arrives in Aussie showrooms in the first quarter of 2025.
“This runout program provides our customers with an excellent opportunity to enjoy substantial savings as we gear up for the highly anticipated launch of the new GWM Cannon in 2025,” said GWM head of marketing and communications Steve Maciver.
“Supported by our comprehensive GWM Care program – which includes a seven-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, five years of roadside assistance, and five years of capped-price servicing – we continue to focus on providing our customers exceptional value for money.”
GWM Australia has sold 7289 examples of the Cannon Ute to the end of November 2024, giving it a 3.9 per cent share of the Pick-Up/Cab-Chassis 4x4 segment.
The model trails favourites including the Ford Ranger (53,729 unit sales), Toyota HiLux (43,068), Isuzu D-Max (22,015), Mitsubishi Triton (13,335), Mazda BT-50 (11,240), Toyota LandCruiser (11,171), Nissan Navara (8257), and Volkswagen Amarok (7920), but leads the LDV T60 (5848), SsangYong Musso (3084), GWM Cannon Alpha (930), and Jeep Gladiator (467).
More information on the all-new GWM Cannon Ute will be made available closer to the model’s local launch.
