Updated Outlander priced for 2024

Mitsubishi’s mid-sized SUV gains convenience and safety updates, standalone Black Edition

6 Oct 2023

MITSUBISHI Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has announced changes to its Outlander range for 2024. The line-up continues to be priced from $37,740 plus on-road costs, however prices elsewhere across the petrol range see increases of between $500 and $600, with the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) range jumping by $800.

New to the range convenience and safety technologies, paint options, and the introduction of the Black Edition as a standalone model join selected Outlander and Outlander PHEV variants, with initial stock expected in local dealerships from next month.

For 2024, the Outlander LS Black Edition (from $42,990 +ORC) will now be available as a standalone model. The front-wheel drive seven-seat variant is equipped with 20-inch black alloy wheels, black wing mirror caps, black lower bumper trims, a black grille, black B- and C-pillar garnishes, and premium paint.

Internally, the variant is differentiated over the LS by the inclusion of black front pillar trims, a black headlining, black laser etched gearshift panel, and Mi-Suede upholstery with synthetic leather bolsters.

Elsewhere in the Outlander range, we find updated safety and convenience features including ‘always on’ automatic dusk-sensing headlights, an LED rear fog light, rear seat alert function, and the introduction of a Graphite Grey paint finish (replacing Titanium Metallic) on ES, LS, Aspire and Exceed grades.

The Outlander Exceed Tourer flagship is now available in Graphite Grey with Black Mica roof, and Black Diamond with Sterling Silver roof.

All petrol-powered five- and seven-seat Outlander variants remain powered by Mitsubishi’s proven 135kW/244Nm 2.5-litre four-cylinder paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Fuel economy across the range varies from 7.5 litres per 100km in the entry-grade front-wheel drive up to 8.1L/100km in high-grade all-wheel drives (with respective CO2 emissions of 170g/km to 185g/km).

Plug-in hybrid Outlander variants combine a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol unit with twin electric motors to develop 185kW/450Nm. Combined cycle fuel economy is listed at 1.5L/100km and CO2 emissions just 35g/km.

All-wheel drive variants, irrespective of motive source, are equipped with Mitsubishi’s Super-All Wheel Control all-wheel drive system. The six-mode arrangement offers Normal, Eco, Tarmac, Gravel, Snow and Mode driver selectable traction modes.

Further, all Mitsubishi Outlander variants benefit from a comprehensive range of active and passive safety technologies, including front, side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags, stability and traction control, anti-lock brakes with brake override, brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, and emergency stop signal, blind spot warning, forward collision mitigation, hill-start and -descent control, lane change assist, speed limiter, and trailer stability assist.

Exceed and Exceed Tourer flagships add Mitsubishi’s Mi-Pilot adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist technologies, which include traffic jam assist, speed limit assist and traffic sign recognition.

Again in 2024, the Outlander range will be offered with a Protection Pack (tinted bonnet protection, wind deflectors, floor mats, luggage soft tray and cargo sill plate) and/or Style Set (black hood emblem, colour-coded corner, rear and side garnishes, and Outlander or PHEV side decals) as an option.

“The all-new Mitsubishi Outlander has been a stand-out performer since its 2021 introduction,” said Mitsubishi Motors Australia CEO, Shaun Westcott.

“With an impressive model range featuring 5 and 5+2 seating options and front- or all-wheel drive, the Outlander appeals to a wide customer base and is equally at home in the city or off road.

“The Outlander Plug-In Hybrid EV is fast becoming the PHEV of choice for Australian families. With a dual-motor electric powertrain supported by an efficient combustion engine, this vehicle offers an unparalleled versatility to the Australian consumer.”
