New models - MorganMorgan classics get ADR green lightClassic range follows 3 Wheeler back to Morgan showrooms with price drop9 Dec 2016 THE department of transport has thrown Morgan another lifeline, allowing it to reinstate its full Australian line-up of hand-built sportscars, which go back on sale with even more affordable pricetags. Until this week, changes to Australian Design Rules (ADR) had halted sales of the Classic range Down Under but following negotiations with the department, Morgan has now been given permission to start taking orders again. With the 4/4, Plus 4 and Roadster now back in showrooms, Australians have the full line-up to choose from including the 3 Wheeler, which was also previously restricted by the ADR changes but approved for sale again last month. If the company had been unable to negotiate the special dispensation it was facing the prospect of somewhat spartan Australian showrooms, with only the Plus 8 and Aero 8 sailing through ADR revisions unscathed. As an extra cherry on top, recent exchange rate movements prompted by the United Kingdom signalling its intent to leave the European Union has allowed price reductions across the range of up to $24,845 for all but the 3 Wheeler. Opening proceedings in the resurrected Classic range is the 4/4 which represents Morgan’s most affordable model with a new driveaway price of $89,900 – a reduction of $7949. Above that, the Plus 4 is now $12,267 cheaper at $99,800, while the Roadster flagship of the Classic range is now $139,500, representing a $10,724 reduction. With a 4.8-litre V8 engine wrapped up in a traditionally styled Morgan body, the Plus 8 bridges the old and new for the line-up and with a new price of $220,000 is $19,879 cheaper. At the top of the pack, the Aero 8 high-performance convertible has been reduced to $275,000 saving Morgan fans $24,845. In June, the car-maker cut the price of the unique 3 Wheeler to $100,284, but that price has now increased by $1683 to $101,967 driveaway.
