New models - Suzuki - Swift - ClassicSwift goes Classic in QueenslandSuzuki Queensland releases just one leather-lined Swift Classic for each dealer3 Jun 2011 SUZUKI’S independent Queensland distributor has released a luxury-packed version of the new Swift that will be limited to about one example for every one of its 44 dealers in the sunshine state and northern NSW. The limited-edition Swift Classic is based on the mid-range GL variant of the new Swift hatch range launched in Australia in February, but is distinguished by a bold exterior chequered flag centre stripe and 15-inch 10-spoke AMP shadow-grey alloy wheels. Priced at $22,165 (manual) and $23,865 (automatic) plus on-road costs and available in three distinctive metallic paint colours – copper, blue and silver – the Swift Classic also features luxury interior upgrades that more than account for its $5575 price increase over the $16,690 GL – and even its $3175 hike over the flagship Swift GLX ($18,990). They include double-stitched ‘Pantera’ leather seat trim with an embroidered Swift Classic logo, double-stitched leather interior door trims and an integrated 155mm Clarion audio and satellite-navigation system. The latter comprises the latest Suna live traffic channel information including an alternative route function, plus three years of free updates for navigation maps and the 600,000 points of interest. “The Swift Classic package combines features that some manufacturers might charge $10,000 for, but delivers them to the market at a modest increase over the price of the Swift GL upon which the Classic is based,” said Suzuki Auto Co general manager Adam Le Fevre. “As a result, it represents outstanding value for money – just like every model in the current Swift range, but more so. We are running the Classic as a very limited edition amortised at an availability ratio of around one car per dealership.” The special pricing package for the Swift Classic will see it hit the market with a recommended retail price of just $22,165 for the manual and $23,865 for the automatic. Suzuki Australia says it has no plans to introduce a similar upmarket version of the Swift, nationwide sales of which were 20.8 per cent down in March and remain 5.2 per cent off so far this year.
