New models - Xpeng - G6Xpeng G6 priced from $54,800 Down UnderPublic website opens orders to buyers, Xpeng G6 EV priced from $54,800 + ORCs1 Oct 2024 By MATT BROGAN XPENG has announced pricing for its incoming G6 electric coupe-SUV via its public website this week, noting the model range is now available for pre-order.
The Guangzhou-based importer has revealed two variants of its G6 will be offered locally, priced from $54,800 plus on-road costs in entry Standard Range format and $59,800 + ORCs in flagship Long Range guise.
According to the scant details available via the importer’s website, the Xpeng G6 Standard Range features 800-volt electrical architecture offering 190kW/440Nm system output, rear-wheel drive and 435km range (WLTP).
The high-grade Long Range utilises the same platform, but outputs 210kW/440Nm to the rear wheels for a claimed driving range of up to 570km (WLTP).
Xpeng lists a 10-80 per cent DC fast charging time of 20 minutes for both variants at a peak rate of 215kW for the Standard Range and 280kW for the Long Range.
Importantly, the duo is defined by separate high-voltage battery technologies with the Standard Range featuring a 66kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit and the Long Range an 87.5kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) unit. Both offer vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities.
Standard features include dusk-sensing adaptive LED headlights, a 15.0-inch infotainment array with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and 18-speaker sound, a 10.2-inch digital instrument display, heated and ventilated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic glass roof.
Further, the pair includes digital radio reception (DAB+), satellite navigation, voice control, phone-as-key functionality, a heated steering wheel, six-way powered seat adjustment, heated rear outboard seats, wireless phone and USB-A and -C outlets, rain-sensing wipers, and both heated and power folding wing mirrors.
Standard safety inclusions run to a 360-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, AEB, automatic parking, blind spot monitoring, driver monitoring system, lane centring and keeping assistance, rear collision warning and cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and tyre pressure monitoring.
While little else is revealed on the website, Xpeng will offer five exterior (Artic White, Silver Frost, Graphite Grey, Midnight Black, and Fiery Orange) and two interior (White and Black) colourways.
The model will ride on 20-inch ‘Sport’ wheels as standard across both grades and is offered with a complimentary (AC) home charger if ordered before October 31.
Ordering via the website reveals drive-away pricing for the duo and a $1000 order fee (deposit) per car. Cash, finance, and novated payment terms are offered, alongside the ability to trade your existing vehicle.
While pricing for other models has not been advised, Xpeng’s website allows potential buyers to register their interest on its G9 SUV and X9 MCV.
Limited details on the pair are offered, the website stating specifications including a 570km driving range and 3.9-second 0-100km/h time for the G9 and 702km range and 5.7-second 0-100km/h time for the X9.
The pricing announcement for the Xpeng G6 brings the model to market within close proximity to the recently revealed Zeekr X – a direct rival that is likewise sourced from China. That model is available from $56,900 + ORCs and offers comparable proportions, range and equipment levels to the G6.
The G6 will also vie against the Tesla Model Y which is priced locally from $55,900 + ORCs.
Developed for global markets, the G6 is underpinned by Xpeng’s SEPA 2.0 platform that will provide the foundation for future production models, the company says. The range is imported locally by TrueEV.
Servicing will be offered via the Ultra Tune network with Xpeng offering a five-year/120,000km vehicle warranty and eight-year/160,000km high voltage battery warranty.
