News - Aston MartinAston Martin, Lexus issue recallsTyre monitor glitch grounds 30 Aston V12 Vantages as Lexus recalls 35 GS tow hitches5 Oct 2012 ASTON MARTIN is recalling 30 V12 Vantage sportscars in Australia and Lexus is recalling 35 detachable towing hitches as fitted to previous-generation GS sedan models. The Aston recall is over incorrect software in the tyre pressure monitoring system and affects cars sold between August 2009 and October 2012. In affected vehicles, the driver is not warned of low tyre pressure until it reaches 3psi lower than the “design specification”. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission recalls website says the problem could “result in loss of control of the vehicle, posing a traffic hazard to the driver and other road users”. Owners are advised to contact their Aston Martin dealer to arrange for inspection and repair, and on the website www.recalls.gov.au is a list of vehicle identification numbers (VIN) for affected cars. A list of Lexus GS VINs affected by the towing hitch recall are also listed on the website. The imported genuine Lexus item has the part number PZ408-S1552-00 on a label attached to a bracket that is mounted next to the towing hitch housing. Lexus is recalling the towing hitch worldwide because it may fracture, posing a hazard to drivers and other road users, but Toyota Australia spokesperson Beck Angel told GoAuto no reports or incidences have occurred in this country. Owners of vehicles fitted with the affected tow hitch are being contacted and advised to contact their Lexus dealer for free inspection and replacement.
