News - Audi - R8 - SpyderRecall for Audi R8 SpyderAudi recalls 37 examples of $350k-plus R8 Spyder in Oz to fix potential fuel leak16 Aug 2011 AUDI’S global safety recall of the R8 Spyder has extended to Australia, where 37 examples of the top-shelf super-roadster have been called back because of potential fuel leaks that could lead to engine fires. Audi’s parent company Volkswagen AG recalled a total of 920 model year 2010 and 2011 R8 Spyders last week because a fuel line could rub against a heat shield in the engine bay. No accidents or injuries have been linked to the defect, but according to Audi: “This could cause damage to the fuel supply line, which in isolated cases can lead to leaks.” Owners of models built between May 18, 2010 and June 22, 2011 will be advised to contact their authorised Audi dealership for inspection and, if necessary, rectification. Released in Australia in September last year, the V10-powered R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI quattro currently tops Audi’s line-up at $376,100 plus on-road costs. Read more |
