Bushranger 4x4 lands Covert winch range

BUSHRANGER 4x4 Gear has released details and pricing for its new Covert winch range this week, the 10,000lb (4500kg) units doing away with the conventional external control box to provide owners with more versatile and unobtrusive fitment options.

Under development for several years, the Australian-engineered Covert range features an all-in-one 12-volt motor and control unit, delivering 5.3hp (3950W) of power. The unit utilises a four-stage gearbox for faster line speeds with lower current draw, making it ideal for vehicles running a single battery.

Further, the gearbox mounted proportional friction brake provides a claimed 100 per cent load-holding rating and the capacity for powered unspooling (without load) without causing any damage to the winch.

The dual planetary and dual spur gearsets are all of hardened steel construction.

Bushranger 4x4 Gear says the unit has been tested to rigorous Aussie conditions and is constructed using only top-tier components. The Covert winch is offered with 28-metre synthetic and wire lines, the use of a powder-coated aluminium housing giving the former a fitted weight of just 31.5kg (and 43kg for the steel line option).

The unit is offered with multiple mounting options and is prewired for added convenience. The clutch position may be pre-set to suit most applications.

As standard, Bushranger 4x4 Gear supplies the Covert unit with both an IP66-rated remote control – with up to 30m range – and a wired lead (5m in length). The kit also includes a power isolation switch and aluminium fairlead.

The Bushranger 4x4 Gear Covert 10,000lb winch is sold with a seven-year warranty and is priced from $1395 for wire winch models (RWC100W, available from October) and $1595 for synthetic winch models (RWC100S, available now).

Heavier duty 12,000lb models will be available from February 2024.
