PSA tops CO2 study

Clean: Citroen's C4 helped PSA top Europe's emissions ratings.

Benz and BMW shamed as Peugeot-Citroen and Fiat emerge as Europe's cleanest makers

21 Nov 2007

PSA Peugeot-Citroen had the lowest CO2 emissions from its new-vehicle fleet in Europe last year, according to an independent report published by the European Federation for Transport and Environment last week.

The French manufacturer achieved a fleet average of 142g/km of CO2, which was just ahead of the Fiat Group on 144g/km.

Both are close to achieving the voluntary EU target of 140g/km by next year and are within sight of the 2015 target of 120g/km.

The study also shows that DaimlerChrysler had the highest average emissions on 188g/km (up 2.8 per cent), followed by BMW on 184g/km.
