Typhoon to return

Storm passing: the Typhoon's highly publicised clutch failure is now behind it, says Ford.

Ford says the Typhoon's clutch problem is licked and almost ready for a re-release

21 Mar 2005

FORD Australia is "close" to reintroducing its F6 Typhoon sedan after the performance car was recalled last month after a motoring magazine exposed a clutch problem.

"We’ve got our hands around the problem, we need to do some more durability testing, and we’re out running cars, so when we get all that done and we’re absolutely certain, we’ll come and tell you," Ford Australia president, Tom Gorman, said last week.

"What I don’t want to do is give you a date and then miss that date again. We’ve had one failure here – that’s enough."
