News - Holden - Commodore - SportwagonVE wagon, ute export nodCommodore ute and wagon to follow G8-badged sedan to US as Pontiac family, says report21 Nov 2007 By TERRY MARTIN AMERICAN media has reported this week that, as expected, Holden will get the green light to export its VE ute and station wagon to the United States for GM’s Pontiac brand. A report in US journal Automotive News cites “three sources familiar with the project” but also warns that the two vehicles – which will join the VE sedan-based Pontiac G8 that heads Stateside from later this year – could be either repriced or cancelled if the Australian dollar continues to strengthen against the US dollar. As we've previously reported, the sources confirmed GMC was considered as a recipient of the ute, but was rejected on the basis that Pontiac would be better served by having a high-performance family to promote.
