ISUZU Ute Australia (IUA) says that various market factors including, but not limited to, higher production-related costs and international and domestic transport costs have forced its hand in passing on retail price increases of between $1000 and $1600 across its range of D-Max and MU-X variants.

Effective April 1, the price adjustment sees drive-away pricing of the base grade D-Max SX single-cab chassis 1.9-litre manual 4x2, D-Max X-Terrain 4x4, and MU-X LS-T 4x4 rise by $2000, to $31,990, $64,990 and $65,990 respectively.

It’s a decision that IUA director of sales and marketing Koichiro Yoshida said was “not taken lightly with all options deeply considered”.

However, Mr Yoshida added that all confirmed orders (placed with authorised IUA dealers) would automatically be covered by a price-protection guarantee if those vehicles were ordered and signed for on or before 31 March 2022.

He said that given sustained strong market demand for both the D-Max and MU-X, IUA remained committed to delivering customer orders as quickly as possible, but added that IUA would not remove valued equipment from its models to meet increased demand.

“The constantly shifting global situation affecting production, transport and logistic costs has driven the need to increase pricing across the 2022 model year D-Max and MU-X range – but this decision was not taken lightly with all options deeply considered,” he said.

“Regardless of an order status – whether it be in transit or planned for production – IUA guarantees the price protection on all confirmed orders taken (by) the end of March.

“We are grateful for everyone’s patience and understanding as we navigate this unprecedented time of supply shortages, and we are working closely with our global production team to secure the maximum number of vehicles for our Australian customers.

“IUA remains committed to delivering our vehicles completed, without compromise and without taking any shortcuts; (it’s) a commitment to our customers who have expectations that we will always strive to meet – and exceed.”

Year-to-date (YTD) sales show sales of IUA D-Max and MU-X models are performing well with 4x2 D-Max variants the second-best sellers in their class behind the Toyota HiLux, with YTD sales of 795 units (15.8. per cent of the Pick-Up/Cab-Chassis 4x2 market segment).

Four-wheel-drive variants of the D-Max rank fourth overall in the Pick-Up/Cab-Chassis 4x4 market segment with YTD sales of 3030 units, or 10 per cent of the segment.

The MU-X now ranks second in its segment behind the Toyota LandCruiser Prado with YTD sales of 1675 units (9.9 per cent of the SUV Large under $70,000 market segment).
