Lamborghini ice driving experience heads to NZ

Huracan Sterrato and Urus SUV among high-powered Italian supercars at Esperienza Neve

8 Aug 2023

LAMBORGHINI has brought its Esperienza Neve ice driving experience to the Southern Hemisphere for the first time, with guests from the Asia Pacific region getting behind the ‘wheel of the Italian brand’s high-powered sports cars and super SUVs at the high-altitude Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds in Queenstown.

Under the guidance of professional Lamborghini driving instructors, guests and customers got to experience firsthand the capabilities of Huracan Technica, Sterrato and STO variants, as well as the Urus Performante and S on the snow-covered circuit, trialling Lamborghini’s revised LDVI (Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics) system and Rally modes to full effect.

According to the organisers, the very low temperature conditions enabled participants to maximise both their own potential and that of the vehicles on low-grip surfaces “without compromising on fun or safety”.

“Esperienza Neve is the perfect dynamic ice driving environment for our valued clients to experience the powerful performance and potential of our Lamborghini cars in winter conditions,” said Automobili Lamborghini region director for Asia Pacific, Francesco Scardaoni.

“Featuring the Huracan Sterrato at the Esperienza Neve in the Southern Hemisphere for the first time, we are thrilled to be able to further demonstrate the capability of the all-terrain super sports car that goes beyond the asphalt.”

The three-day program also offered guests the opportunity to stay in one of the most luxurious hotels situated on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and to experience gourmet dining in several of the region’s exclusive restaurants.

Celebrating its eighth year, Lamborghini Esperienza Neve (Snow Experience) is one of five high-performance driving experiences offered to Lamborghini guests and customers. It joins Esperienza Dinamica (Dynamic Experience), Esperienza Accademia (Academy Experience), Esperienza Giro (Tour Experience), and Esperienze Avventura (Adventure Experience) in providing unique programs available exclusively to the brand’s elite.

The Esperienza Dinamica program combines the historic elements of Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata Bolognese home with the emotion of driving selected Lamborghini models, as well as the opportunity to visit the museum and production line. The package also takes to the celebrated Autodromo di Imola for some high-speed exercises and off-road to experience the capabilities of the Urus SUV.

Lamborghini’s Esperienza Accademia (which incorporates Esperienza Neve) is a mix of on-track and on-snow driving programs that aims to educate guests and customers as to the capabilities of Lamborghini vehicles under the careful supervision of highly skilled instructors. The program is held at locations around the globe, including in Australia, and at some of the world’s most prestigious racetracks.

The Esperienza Giro is a program that enables Lamborghini owners to experience what the brand says are “unforgettable adventures” by exploring the most spectacular roads and places in the world in their own cars. Held across five continents, the experience spends time not only driving fantastic roads, but also taking in high-end accommodation and dining.

Finally, Lamborghini’s Esperienza Avventura is said to be the “ultimate expression of the potential of cars from the House of the Raging Bull”, allowing guests to experience carefully curated drive routes in remarkable locations, including Andalusia, Iceland, Norway and Transylvania. Combining breathtaking scenery with heritage sites and one-off experiences, this prestigious offering is available only to VIP guests and the press, guaranteeing “unparalleled spectacular views every time”.
