Five-star super-minis

Solid: Mini's new Cooper hits the ENCAP crash barrier.

New Mini and Pug's 207CC score maximum five-star European crash test ratings

27 Apr 2007

BMW’S all-new Mini Cooper and Peugeot’s 207CC (due on sale here mid-year)achieved an excellent five-star (out of five) adult occupant protection rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP crash tests handed down last week.

The verdicts for pedestrian protection for the two vehicles were less impressive – both achieved a poor two-star score (out of four) – while the protection afforded to children was rated at three stars (out of five) for the Mini.

The 207CC was not assessed for child protection because it was deemed too small to fit the recommended child restraints on the rear seats, with the front seats in the normal position for "average-sized occupants".
