Magna wagon wiring fix

MITSUBISHI Australia has ordered the recall of 18,800 current generation Magna wagons because of a wiring problem that could cause the engine to cut out.

The cars are all current shape Magnas built between November 1996 and May 2000.

Most cars were sold locally, although some were also exported to Japan and New Zealand.

A Mitsubishi recall notice said that the electrical wiring harness for the fuel pump and fuel gauge assembly could become damaged because of a lack of clearance.

This could cause the ignition switch fuse to blow and the engine to stop.

No accidents were reported due to the sudden stoppages.

All three engines fitted to this generation Magna are affected - the 2.4-litre 4-cylinder and the 3.0-litre and 3.5-litre V6.

Mitsubishi is contacting all owners and requesting they take their vehicles to a Mitsubishi dealership to be fixed.
