Navara Pro-4X Warrior launches in South Africa

‘Aussie’ Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior by Premcar launches in South Africa, on sale April

31 Mar 2025

NISSAN South Africa has officially launched the Navara Pro-4X Warrior this week, becoming the first market outside of Australia to sell the Premcar-enhanced model.

Following a collaboration between Nissan South Africa, Nissan Australia, and Premcar – and with capability gains made specifically for South Africa’s unique driving conditions – the Navara Pro-4X Warrior is produced at Nissan South Africa’s Rosslyn facility with initial customer deliveries slated from late April 2025.

The South African Navara Pro-4X Warrior differs from the Australian model not only in terms of its spring and damper settings, but also in featuring Warrior-style 17-inch alloy wheels, Maxxis Razr all-terrain tyres, and a bespoke front bumper.

“The launch of the Premcar-developed Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior in South Africa is a major milestone for this highly successful Nissan-Premcar new-car enhancement program,” said Premcar CEO Bernie Quinn.

“We receive many overseas requests for Nissan’s Warrior by Premcar model range. To join Nissan South Africa in releasing this highly capable 4x4 ‘bakkie’ to its excited customers is a reason to celebrate.

“Nissan’s popular Warrior by Premcar enhancement program is all about tailoring a selection of the company’s leading vehicles for a market’s local conditions.

“South Africa’s new Navara Pro-4X Warrior by Premcar has been developed in South Africa to suit South Africa’s unique driving conditions. It’s also secondary manufactured in a facility within Nissan’s South African plant.”

Nissan Australia’s Warrior program now features three models – the Navara SL Warrior, Navara Pro-4X Warrior, and Patrol Warrior – of which more than 12,000 examples have been sold.

“We launched the Warrior by Premcar program in 2019 with the Navara N-Trek Warrior, a vehicle that immediately resonated with our passionate Navara owners and set new benchmarks for a locally enhanced ute in Australia,” said Nissan Oceania vice president and managing director Andrew Humberstone.

“We then saw the international potential which was first realised with the introduction of the Navara N-Trek Warrior in New Zealand, sharing the same refinements as the Australian model.

“We’re thrilled to see this Australian initiative now launch in the South African market with the Navara Pro-4X Warrior. As any Warrior owner in Australia can attest, South African drivers are in for something special.”

Nissan Australia told GoAuto that it will continue to offer the current-generation Navara locally until sometime in the 2026-27 Japanese financial year (i.e., between April 2026 and March 2027), countering earlier suggestions that the model could be in showrooms by the end of 2025.

The replacement model will leverage Nissan’s alliance partnership with Mitsubishi Motors, essentially seeing it arrive as a re-engineered Triton with Nissan-specific styling and equipment. It is understood the Nissan-Premcar partnership will continue into the new-generation Navara with the Pro-4X Warrior expected to top the range.

Nissan’s next-generation Navara will be built alongside the Triton at Mitsubishi’s Thai facility, potentially indicating the vehicles will share the Mitsubishi-sourced 2.4-litre twin-turbocharged diesel four-cylinder (150kW/470Nm) in lieu of the Renault-sourced 2.3-litre (140kW/450Nm) currently offered.
