Porsche to make it a dozen

Exclusive: Just 80 examples of the $327,000 911 Turbo will arrive in 2006.

Finally, Porsche Cars Australia gets set to announce another retail outlet for Oz

23 Aug 2006

THE Porsche Cars Australia dealer network will grow to 12 outlets in 2007 following the appointment of a second Melbourne dealership this year.

Australia’s first new Porsche centre in ages will follow the rollout of an embarrassment of new model riches this year and a steady upwards sales increase, especially in Porsche-mad Melbourne.

"There is an opportunity for a second dealership in Melbourne and we hope to make an announcement before the end of the year," said PCA managing director Michael Winkler.

It’s believed PCA is in discussions with two parties, including Barloworld, to service the city’s southeast.

PCA expects another bumper sales year in 2006 with around 1200 sales, which follows totals of 1205 last year and 1264 in 2004.

The addition of a V6 variant of next year’s facelifted Cayenne will easily make Porsche’s SUV its biggest-selling model, while the all-new 2009 Panamera sedan will also add significant sales volume via yet another (even wealthier) customer demographic.

PCA’s second Victorian dealership will join its Collingwood headquarters/showroom in Melbourne, three dealers in Sydney and one each in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin and Hobart.
