The JS Vectra range expanded to include an attractive four-door station wagon that, along with the four-door sedan, was assembled in South Australia.

The Aussie-made Vectras also gained a larger, 104kW/200Nm, 2.2-litre Family II four-cylinder engine, along with revised suspension, tyres, colours and cabin trim that were more suited to Australian conditions.

However, while gaining keyless entry, the GL sedan and wagon lost the standard fitment of anti-lock brakes and traction control, while cruise control went AWOL in the CD – although all were still available as options.

Meanwhile, the GL and CD hatchback retained these safety features but also persisted with the old 100kW 2.0 or 125kW 2.5 V6 engines, since Holden continued to source the hatchbacks from Belgium.
