Audi A8D4 A81 May 2014 Audi's flagship A8 sedan was given a range update in May 2014, and also saw the introduction of the tyre-shredding top-spec S8. The upgrade brought increased levels of tech and subtle styling tweaks, while the former flagship 4.2-litre LWB variant was dropped from the line-up. Cylinder-deactivation technology meant that fuel economy was down across the range, and added safety tech included an adaptive seatbelt restraint system, eight airbags, tire pressure monitoring display, ISOFIX anchor points for mounting child safety seats and secondary collision brake assist, which prevents the car from skidding uncontrollably after being whacked from behind.
