Ford Mustang

Sixth Generation Mustang

1 Dec 2015

After 60 years of left-hand drive conversions, Ford finally introduced a factory right-hooker Mustang to the local market with a choice of traditional naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 or 2.3-litre turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder.

Both engines were available with either six-speed manual gearbox or automatic transmission, except the folding fabric roof Convertible which was on offer only as an auto.

Fastback EcoBoost versions kicked off the range with a two-plus-two arrangement and, while US Mustangs had the option of a Performance Pack that added larger wheels and other driver-focused features, Australian cars got the kit included with the price.

The model attracted unprecedented attention and the complete Australian allocation of 4000 cars sold sold out before the first right-hand drive car had rolled off the American production line.
