A significantly revamped version of the MGF, the TF eschewed its predecessor's Hydralastic fluid suspension for conventional coil springs, for sharper and firmer handling and ride properties.

MG Rover's ZT was based on the BMW-developed front-wheel drive 75 sedan, boasting a sportier demeanour thanks to firmer suspension, gutsier V6 engines and quicker steering. In '04 a rear-drive Ford-V8 ZT260 version arrived, but all ZTs stopped when MG Rover went into liquidation during 2005.

the MG brand - around since the 1920s - returned to Australia on the rump of an advanced mid-engined two-seater droptop in 1997, taking on the Mazda MX-5 that ironically was inspired by its MGB predecessor.
