For its third generation under BMW ownership, Mini’s Convertible returned with a new electrically folding soft-top in place of the electro-hydraulic mechanism, and a more refined cabin that aligned with the other members of the family.

The same likeable Mini look was evolved while retaining the unmistakable styling traits, while a new Caribbean Aqua blue and greater number of customisation options were also added to the list.

While a manual six-speed manual gearbox was offered as a no-cost option, the big news was a standard automatic transmission in addition to a reduced price when compared with the outgoing second-generation car.

Powertrains aligned with the hatchback with an entry-level 1.5-litre three-cylinder Cooper with 100kW and 220Nm or a 141kW/280Nm Cooper S 2.0-litre four-cylinder.
