Opel Astra

Astra

1 Sep 2012

Previously sold by GM Holden, the familiar Astra nameplate returned to Australia in September 2012 under its original Opel banner.

The popular small car came in a number of body styles and variants upon release including the three-door GTC hatch, five-door hatch and a wagon.

A series of powertrains were available including a 1.4- and 1.6-litre turbo petrol and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel with either a six-speed manual or six-speed auto.

Fuel economy ranged from 4.7 litres per 100kilometres for the diesel to 7.0L/100kms for the 1.6-litre petrol.

The OPC hot hatch with 206kW of power and a 6.0 seconds 0-100km/h sprint time landed in February 2013 to shake up the hot hatch segment.
