Super TestCar reviews - Ford - Falcon - SR sedanFord modelsWhat's Changed19 Nov 2001 By BRUCE NEWTON COMPARED to Forte, SR has only minor body styling changes and virtually no interior enhancements. Mechanically, it gains standard anti-lock braking (ABS), although Forte later corrected that at the introduction of the AUIII. The big story was actually 12 months earlier in the change from AU to AUII Forte and its "low-series" Futura brethren. The overall aim for the volume-selling Forte was to make it look more upmarket. The front lost the sharply creased bonnet and controversial vertical-slat grille, while at the rear the wider and lower rear bumper served to hide previously visible mechanical parts. The rear end was also enhanced with a clear indicator lens incorporated into the tail-lights, plus a new applique and badge. Equipment levels were higher than ever, including dual airbags, CD, over-speed alert, upgraded stereo and a roof-mounted sunglass holder.
