IT’S not just the budget players who want a piece of the fastest growing automotive segment on the planet the premium players are lining up for a slice of the very lucrative pie, as well.
While Land Rover, despite its humble origins, continues to morph into a premium offering, the company still sees itself bound to its Defender-esque roots. It wants its vehicles to be practical, robust and capable of anything that customers can throw at it.
The Discovery Sport, codenamed the L550, shares a lot of DNA with the Range Rover Evoque including its platform, front suspension and drivetrains, but Land Rover has given its all-wheel-drive machine a more real-world veneer, and at a lower price point.
